1958 Riva Tritone by Carlo Riva,

Carlo Riva was a remarkable man he transformed a four generations boat building business into the most iconic and most revered luxury brand of powerboats known to the world. These boats were owned by Royalty and stars; Richard Burton, Sophia Loren and King Hussein of Jordan to name but a few.
Under the stewardship of Carlo Riva these craft had a following and a spender that simply eclipsed other craft that were made in the USA and Europe.
Whilst these boats were undoubtedly powerful and enjoyed a frequently unsurpassed reputation, their looks sent out the perfect message and these boats were often referred to as the ‘Ferrari of the Waters’.
The beautiful varnished timber hulls and decks an image of opulence was purveyed. These boats simply bewitched some of their owners. Based on the shores of Iseo, a spectacular scenic area of Italy, this lake is close to Brescia and Bergama. A lake fed by the Oglio river and mid lake is the beautiful island of Monte Isola. The Riva boatyard was fortunate to employ local craftsmen whose skills in working with wood and metal had been honed over generations building exquisite boats to individual designs created for customers.

The Riva Tritone arrived to a warm welcome and represented the largest and most expensive of the range so far with twin engines and a large fuel capacity, the triton elevated the Riva marque to an altogether higher echelon. Designed by Corsaro, the Tritone was given a second row of seats, thereby increasing accommodation, the long stern was completely decked enhancing elegant lines, sunbed mattresses provided a useful area for sunbathing. Early Tritone’s in 1954 were powered with Chriscraft engines. Between 1950 and - click here to reveal phone number - Tritones were made. However, between 1956 and 1960 the Tritone Cadilac was offered with twin 250hp engines, just 10 were built.

Early Rivas were built using diagonal planking techniques, later boats evolved to rely on timber curved into position using steam.

Today Riva craft are highly prized and sort after commanding substantial prices and have become sort after as an investment choice for those with a passion for classic boats.

The Riva Tritone is considered by many to be the most elegant model from the classic Riva range until the arrival of the Aquarama, the Tritone was the largest model and the only model equipped with 2 engines. The Riva tritone offered for sale here is absolutely exquisite having just been the subject of a meticulous restoration. This is Hull 86 and originally built in 1958 for Lord Rashbrooke. The second owner of the boat upgraded the engine to twin Chrysler 318 V8s each developing 225hp as per the specification of the Super Tritone. The recent restoration project has been done regardless of cost. The wood, chrome and upholstery were restored by Fine Wooden Boats in Huntingdon with the work completed in July 2014, leading restorers of the marque and well known to the present owner.

The engines have been rebuilt by Ian Barkaway in London. They have been run up and show just 5 hours so far. The installation of the engines with shaft drive chain, rewiring and final assembly was completed by Berthon, Lymington in 2015. In March 2016 the final varnish was undertaken by Henwood & Dean in Henley and reflects fully the expertise and reputation that this company enjoys. The boat has had a successful sea trial in Lymington since which time is has been dry stored and presents in perfect condition.

All the correct covers, detachable boarding ladder and a brand new custom bespoke trailer are included for sale with the boat. The boat can be viewed at Lake Windermere and can be delivered Europe wide to suit a new owners requirements.

These are very, very rare boats and represent possibly one of the very best opportunities to purchase an investment in perfect condition with all the work done.
